Event Recaps
25

On Sep. 25th 2010, NAAAP-SF joined thousands of other volunteers across the Golden State to help clean up our area's beaches during California's annually held Coastal Cleanup Day.

For a few hours on a windy Saturday morning, NAAAP-SF coordinated the clean-up efforts of the Taravel St. portion of Ocean Beach in what is the premier volunteer-based marine cleanup event in the country.  Our chapter did its part in organizing like-minded, environmentally conscious volunteers in helping make our home area a cleaner, better place to live.  The fact that we all got to meet lots of great people and walk away feeling good about what we had done was an added bonus!

About Coastal Cleanup Day:

Coastal Cleanup Day is the highlight of the California Coastal Commission's year 'round Adopt-A-Beach program and takes place every year on the third Saturday of September, from 9 a.m. to Noon. Coming at the end of the summer beach season and right near the start of the school year, Coastal Cleanup Day is a great way for families, students, service groups, and neighbors to join together, take care of our fragile marine environment, show community support for our shared natural resources, learn about the impacts of marine debris and how we can prevent them, and to have fun!
