Event Recaps
30

On August 12, 2011, hundreds of professionals dressed in full suits to business casual attire were ready for “The Road to Revolutionary Leadership” in Boston, Massachusetts. The 3 day annual national convention was held at the World Trade Center where many NAAAP chapters and interested participants were networking, attending workshops ranging in various topics, and visiting the myriad of companies at the career fair. Many inspirational speakers stood before us to share their life stories of how they once struggled from a very low point in their lives to eventually becoming the leaders they are today. Their amazing stories were truly heart felt and resonated with the many participants present this year. During the convention gala, NAAAP San Francisco was honored to receive the 1st place award for our HAPI Hour event in effort to fundraise a total of $20,000 for the Japan Relief.

As a new NAAAP member and officer, it was a privilege to be able to experience NAAAP in its full effect of leadership development along with many other chapters. It was NAAAP’s 25th anniversary and the convention was well organized and informative. I was able to attend 4 workshops in one full day and each speaker was phenomenal. My personal favorite was Panney Wei who spoke about “Being A CHAMPION: 10 Steps to Revolutionize YOU to Your Greatest Potential”. She was full of energy and every point she made was a lesson of its own.

I had the opportunity to meet many of the Boston chapter members who were like an extended NAAAP family. They made me feel welcomed and were most helpful when I needed tips on local eateries and attractions as I explored Boston during my free time. It was also a pleasure to network with other chapters while attending fun and social events with my new friends. Overall, the convention was a great experience and I am excited to attend next year’s convention as I look forward to another exciting program.
