As NAAAP officers, we knew that we had to end the year with something exciting to get the Asian community together for the holidays. So, we decided to host our very first Holiday Bash! To make it even more exciting, we collaborated with our good friends at TAP to celebrate all of our accomplishments for 2011.
The event was a huge success with close to 400 guests. The line of guests couldn’t wait to step foot inside the brand new ultra club, THE GRAND. As they walked in, they passed by our food area where there were tons of amazing food; generously donated from some of the greatest restaurants in the Bay Area. There were hors d'oeuvres served from 5A5 Steakhouse, HRD Coffee Shop, Tortilla's Mexican Grill, Mokutanya Japanese, Hana Zen, Sonoma Cheese, Ben Tre Vietnamese, and Gaylord Indian.
The bar was surrounded by guests enjoying the company of family, friends, colleagues, and the rest of the wonderful SF community. We were lucky to have our Bay area Asian Beauty Pageant Queens to attend the party. Our queens: Alexandra Calingo, Christine Lee, Angelica Yi, Cherilynn Tsay, Jewel Pi, and Julian Shen, were ecstatic to mingle with the crowd, and sell raffle tickets for the amazing prizes we had to give away.
Some of the raffles include: An Ozumo Tasting for 2, A Hana Zen Gift Certificate, A 2 night stay at The Grand Sierra in Nevada, and the prize that got the crowd screaming was the 2 Bottles of Martell XO's.
As the night came closer, the music started beating louder. The moment that everyone had been waiting for arrived. Our crowd was hyped up to see a special performance by “Blush”, an all-girl Asian American pop group from Far West TV. These talented ladies performed a few of their hit songs that made all the men “Blush”, and ended the night with a little “Kiss”.
But, the night wasn’t over yet!!! The NAAAP leadership team was proud to receive a Mayoral Proclamation from Jean Quan of Oakland, which acknowledged our exceptional leadership and outstanding charitable work. This award was presented to NAAAP by Nhi Chau, the Executive Director of OASES (Oakland Asian Student’s Educational Services), whom we had the pleasure to work with to help fulfill the children’s Christmas dreams. With over $10,000 raised from the Holiday Bash, we were able to help Santa fulfill the wishes of all the underprivileged children of OASES.
Happy Holidays to all our supporters of NAAAP. Wishing you a very jolly Christmas and a joyous New Year!
