EVENT DESCRIPTION

China is currently undergoing one of the largest building booms in history in its dramatic transformation to become a global superpower. In 2010, China had surpassed the United States as the largest construction market and will account for one-fifth of the world's building industry by 2020. The new cities under construction will host millions of new jobs and lives for China’s projected urban population of 1.3 billion by 2030.

In all, within the next decade China's building market is expected to become a $2.5 trillion industry that will create new market opportunities for construction, real estate investments, and emergent technology applications. However, the more urgent matter at hand is how we can sustainably achieve the immense opportunities for urban growth without compromising the environmental, social, and economic needs of tomorrow.
